The Wizard of Gore (1970)

Director: Herschell Gordon Lewis

Starring: Ray Sager, Judy Cler, Wayne Ratay

Run Time: 1:35

Rant: What's with horror icons coming from Pittsburgh? Herschell Gordon Lewis, Tom Savini, George Romero, Fred Rogers. There's almost too many to count.

Alright, so there's a stupid magician with a horrible moustache. I don't know what's going on in this movie. He saws the bitch in half, then she's just fine? The crowd doesn't even seem to realize she was sawed in half. They just watch like dullards as he's playing with her guts and stuff, then she walks away with no blood or anything. A scene later she's at a diner all sawed in half. What the fuck is going on?! I guess he has mind control over everyone. Every time he's about to control their minds they zoom into his stupid eyebrows.

The guy that plays the Wizard/Magician whatever the fuck you wanna call him, he does a terrible job. I mean, no one in this piece of shit was overlooked by the academy, but him especially. Fuck, he's like the main guy of the movie. Get someone better.

I haven't seen many splatter films of the 60s or 70s, but I can only guess this was some of the best gore you could find back then. It's not bad at all. There's some gruesome shit, it's a real positive. One lady he hammers a spike into her head, pulls her brains out, then starts playing with her eyeballs. It's fantastic.

This is a wonderful gore movie. It would be much more disturbing with creepier music but it's just silly sounding. It doesn't seem as serious so it's not as disturbing as it could be. This is an alright awful horror movie.

Fun Facts: Most of the guts and gore in the movie were actually animal organs.

Kill Count:
Stage Girl #1 (12:55) Chainsawed in half.
