Head of the Family (1996)

Director: Charles Band (as Robert Talbot)

Starring: Blake Adams, Jacqueline Lovell, Bob Schott

Run time: 1:22

Rant: Here we have another wacky Full Moon production. This movie is a much better version of Blood Dolls. Of course there are no dolls. I guess that's rare for Full Moon and maybe rare for a John Moser review... Either way this is a comedy/horror and it's a lot of fun to watch.

So this guy named Lance is fucking this girl named Loretta. Loretta is married to Howard and Howard is a real prick. Loretta asks Lance to kill Howard but Lance isn't really a killer so he goes to a very strange family, the Stackpools, to get the job done. The Stackpools consist of Otis who has super strength, Wheeler who has super senses and Ernestina who is sexy as fuck. Eventually we meet the head of the family and the brains behind them all. His name is Myron and he is a basically an enormous head with a teeny little body. They are quintuplets and Myron controls the others with a psychic bond. The Stackpools are extremely rich so after they kill Howard, Lance tries to blackmail them. He doesn't realize what horrors they're capable of.

The comedy is funny at parts and not so funny in other parts. A lot of it is corny as fuck and there are plenty of horrible puns about heads. The effects are decent and the giant head looks good. The performances are horrendous but it kind of adds to how strange this shit is. This is a silly awful horror movie.

Fun Fact: In 2008 Charles Band intended to make a sequel entitled Bride of the Head of the Family but it hasn't been made yet.
